How to Fail with Your Membership Sites

How can I write this article?

Easy! I’ve done just about everything on the list below.

So check out the list below, learn from my mistakes so you don’t have to make them yourself, and then check out how to discover more about creating profitable membership sites

1) Build a site around an idea you love – Unless you’ve asked, polled, or surveyed your community, it’s quite possible that you are going to be the only one who loves your idea. And maybe your Dad.

2) Don’t market your site – Too many marketers believe “if you build it, they will come” is as great a marketing strategy as it was a movie line. It’s not.
3) Once people sign up, sit back and enjoy – Don’t worry about getting new members, just be happy with the members you have. The reality is if you are not regularly feeding your membership site, it will likely starve.

4) Believe that once in, members will stay in – Because once they sign up, they’re going to stay forever, right? Wrong. Unless given reasons to stick around, there is natural and frequent attrition in membership sites.

5) Once created, just sit back and enjoy – There’s that big “just sit back and enjoy” internet lie again. Membership sites are filled with people – people with live hearts and live heads who need to be nurtured.
