Goal

See what's possible when one story changes

Story & Strategy Letter Mini-Course

Brief Overview

Cynthia believed her biggest problem was procrastination.

But as the conversation unfolded, something much deeper emerged.

She wasn't simply putting things off.

She was trapped between two powerful emotions:

  • Fear of getting it wrong.
  • Regret that she hadn't started years earlier.

That invisible story had kept her stuck for fifteen years.

By the end of the session, the story had changed...

and so had her future.

Guest Challenge

"I keep procrastinating."

Guest Change

"My past prepared me for today."

Biggest Takeaway

The problem wasn't procrastination.

Procrastination was protecting Cynthia from an impossible emotional trap.

Reflection

What stood out to you most while watching this episode?

The Story We Found

Goal

Learn to recognize the hidden story underneath the challenge.

The Original Story

"If I start now and succeed...

I'll regret wasting the last fifteen years.

If I fail...

I'll prove I wasn't good enough."

Either way...

she loses.

Where It Came From

Years of putting projects aside.

Fear of technology.

Exhaustion.

Perfectionism.

Fear of future regret.

How It Affected Her Business

  • Courses never finished.
  • Workbooks delayed.
  • Constant overwhelm.
  • Mental exhaustion.
  • Creative paralysis.

The Hidden Cost

Fifteen years of helping fewer people than she was capable of helping.

Reflection

What story was really running Cynthia's life?

Then ask yourself...

Where have you been living inside an impossible choice?

Why That Story Wasn't True

Goal

Learn to question limiting stories.

Jeff introduced three powerful reframes.

Reframe #1

If I succeed now...

it proves those years were preparing me.

Reframe #2

The best time was years ago.

The next best time...

is today.

And today still counts.

Reframe #3

The one that changed everything.

Starting now doesn't shame my past.

Starting now redeems it.

Common Thinking Errors

  • Believing success creates regret.
  • Assuming delay protects you.
  • Confusing preparation with failure.
  • Believing the past determines the future.

Question the Story

Ask yourself:

  • Is this based on objective reality?
  • Would a camera record this?
  • Does this help me become who I want to become?
  • Does this help me move toward my future?

Exercise

Write one sentence you've been believing about your past.

Now rewrite it.

The Rewrite

Goal

Watch the story change.

Old Story

"If I succeed now...

I'll regret not starting years ago."

Questions

What if those years weren't wasted?

What if they were preparing you?

What if today is exactly the right time?

New Story

"My past prepared me for today."

New Identity

"I no longer carry regret.

I carry preparation."

New Future

Momentum.

Hope.

Action.

Progress.

Your Turn

Rewrite one story you've been telling yourself about your past.

The Strategy That Appeared

Goal

Watch strategy emerge after the story changes.

Once Cynthia no longer feared success...

strategy became simple.

Not easy.

Simple.

Jeff didn't assign an enormous project.

He assigned...

Five focused minutes.

Business Strategy Created

  • Work five focused minutes daily.
  • Stop after five minutes the first day.
  • Allow yourself to continue after day one.
  • Build momentum instead of pressure.
  • Focus on one project.

Why It Worked

The strategy succeeded because the story had already changed.

Without the rewrite...

the strategy would have failed.

Life Strategy

Small daily actions become possible once emotional resistance disappears.

Progress beats perfection.

Exercise

Set a timer.

Spend exactly five focused minutes today on one project you've been avoiding.

Ways You Can Apply This

Apply today's framework...

  • writing your book
  • building your course
  • learning technology
  • cleaning your office
  • organizing your finances
  • exercising
  • having difficult conversations
  • launching your business
  • rebuilding relationships
  • beginning again

Ask yourself:

What would happen if I simply gave this five focused minutes today?
